Dr. Donald S. Sarver, OD, FAAO

Dr. Donald Sarver, Dr. Morton Sarver's oldest son, graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1971. He is a past president of the Alameda/Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry - a distinction awarded to those who have pursued and completed specific clinical requirements. Like the other doctors in the practice, he has participated in many clinical trials involving new contact lens materials, designs, and care routines. As a clinical professor in the Contact Lens Clinic at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, he presents seminars on various contact lens related issues and teaches graduate students how to care for contact lens patients.

Dr. Don enjoys Cal sports, especially football and basketball. He also enjoys traveling to Europe and spending time with his wife and 4 children.


Dr. Larry A. Sarver, OD

Dr. Larry Sarver, Dr. Morton Sarver's youngest son, graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1980. He taught at the school's Contact Lens Clinic for many years and also worked with Dr. Ed Manche at the Stanford Refractive Surgery Center. Dr. Manche was one of the early investigators in Laser Vision Correction (modern LASIK).

Dr. Larry is an avid softball player, enjoys hiking (especially the southern Sierra and the Canadian Rockies), and is a big sports fan, especially of Cal. He is known in the office as "the dog guy" because of his love for his Siberian Huskies.


Dr. Scott K. Yokoi, OD

Dr. Scott Yokoi graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1986. He has experience in providing vision screenings at local elementary schools and non-profit organizations. He has served as a quality assurance representative for a large vision insurance provider. He currently serves as an expert examiner for the National Board of Examiners of Optometry, which evaluates and qualifies graduating students to be Doctors of Optometry. Dr. Yokoi also has past experience as a staff optometrist at Optima, a referral center for eye diseases as well as a refractive surgery center.

In his leisure time, Dr. Scott enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife and two children.


Dr. Cindy Y. Sakai, OD

Profile Image

Dr. Cindy Sakai received her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley in 2002. She went on to complete a residency program in Primary Care Optometry and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. Low vision is an area of optometry which addresses the needs of patients that have lost vision due to an injury or an eye disease, such as macular degeneration or glaucoma. She is a part-time UC Berkeley clinical faculty member and teaches Optometry students at the Low Vision Clinic at the California School for the Blind in Fremont. Her other academic assignments include lecturing in the Special Education Department at San Francisco State University. Dr. Sakai has also served on the board of the UC Berkeley Optometry Alumni Association and is bilingual in Spanish.

When she's not in the office, Dr. Sakai can be found spending time with her husband and three children, knitting, and traveling.
